FC foils major terror bid in Quetta

14/10/30  QUETTA Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan foiled a major terror bid ahead of Ashura in Quetta by recovering huge cache of arms and explosives including suicide jackets whereas an Afghan inhabitant has also been taken into custody. FC raided a house in district of Kila Abdullah on a tip-off and seized 4,000 kilograms of ammunition, 18 suicide jackets, 107 MMKs, 101 missiles, 122 MM2 missiles, 107 rocket launchers, thousands of cartridges including numerous kinds of detonators, hand grenades and other destructive equipment. While briefing the media, Provincial Minister of Interior Sarfraz Bugti said FC successfully secured Balochistan from a massive destruction.

He said foreign hand is involved in the terrorist occurrences in the province. Earlier in the day, FC impounded a bus laden with massive explosive material on the outskirts of Quetta. According to the FC, a bus was seized at Quetta-Karachi Highway near Akhtar Abad area when it was checked on a check post on a tip off. The FC claimed that six to seven thousand kg explosive material packed in plastic bags was recovered from the vehicle, adding that five people onboard the bus were also arrested. Talking to the media, FC captain Johar said arms of different kinds were also recovered from the vehicle which he said was coming from Karachi. He said the area has been cordoned off for a search operation.

Also, weapons were recovered from Kank area in Mastung.
